The EIS performance centre for the south east region has been officially opened by English Institute of Sport chair, Steve Cram.
The Bisham Abbey centre will function as a hub site for elite athletes based in the south east, providing back-up for athletes, especially in the fields of nutrition, sports science and sports medicine.
The EIS performance centre will supplement existing training facilities at Bisham Abbey, allowing athletes access to top quality services and consultation.
The EIS centre is part of the £10m, Sport England-funded, National Sports Centre which is being built at the historic site – additional work includes a judo hall, squash courts, a sports therapy building and tennis courts.
EIS regional manager, Claire Lavers said: "This facility really sets the tone for both staff and athletes. The EIS is about delivering world class support. This facility embodies that sentiment."
