Bedfordshire County Council is seeking a joint venture partner to revitalise the historic Bromham Mill on the River Ouse.
The property, which dates back to Saxon England, is one of England’s few remaining working water mills.
“Bromham Mills is a popular local attraction where visitors enjoy the tranquillity and special character of the historic buildings and surrounding countryside,” said Clive Beckett, spokesperson for the council.
“In its heyday, the mill area was a hub of cultural and community life, bustling with social and commercial activity and it is that spirit of enterprise that we now seek.
“We believe that there are great opportunities to create a thriving commercial estate at Bromham Mill by exploiting the obvious opportunities for tourism, leisure, hospitality or retail.”
