The city council of Brockville, Ontario, Canada, has approved plans to build a CA$12m visitor attraction in the town.
Proposals include a 15,000sq ft aquarium, a fresh water diving information centre and special mooring for tall ships.
The project, which according to the Ottawa Citizenwill be built by Thomas Fuller Construction, will be called the Maritime Discovery Centre and will be built on a 3.6-acre site on Brockville's waterfront.
The city has put aside CA$1.5m for the new facility. Thomas Fuller Construction has agreed to match that amount. City officials are hopeful that the federal and provincial governments will provide the majority of the remaining $9m.
