Plans to build a new £10.7m Dunfermline Museum and Art Gallery have been given the green light by the City of Dunfermline Area Committee.
A public consultation will now begin on the plans which have been designed by architecture firm
Richard Murphy Associates in partnership with Fife Council.
Plans for the building include a landscaped entrance for the combined library, museum and art gallery and purpose-built museum exhibition and gallery spaces, which will allow views and interpretation of the neighbouring attractions.
Fife Council has allocated £6.8m from its capital budget for the project on the site next to the Dunfermline Carnegie Library.
