A café specially designed to beat the winter blues opened for 3 weeks at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre in London, UK, on 9 January.
Called the Light Lounge, the temporary café contained four lightboxes which are used to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and a circular sofa where visitors could relax and have a session of light treatment.
The lounge was created to coincide with a special event at the Dana Centre debating the issues around winter depression, called SAD: Lighten up your life.
The event examined how northerly latitudes and a lack of sunlight can change your body’s rhythms. details: www.danacentre.org.uk
