Alton Towers’ new Caribbean-themed Splash Landings Hotel and integrated Cariba Creek Waterpark opened at the beginning of June.
However, the waterpark – exclusively for the use of hotel guests – was reported by visitors on the first weekend to be incomplete and suffering from teething difficulties.
Guests were told that access to the feature would be restricted to two hours and at one point the park’s 208m Master Blaster water roller coaster failed, affecting other features in the park.
A spokesperson for Alton Towers acknowledged that a few problems had been experienced, but added that the attraction was now completely operational.
Final work on the site – involving the completion of some external items and landscaping – is expected to be fully finished by 4 July.
Features of the one million gallon waterpark – in addition to the Master Blaster – include Flash Flood, The Wacky Waterworks Treehouse, Volcanic Springs, Lagoona Bay, The Little Leak and The Tipping Bucket. Details: www.altontowers.com
