Adam Glickman of IHG defines the EVEN Hotel brand's wellness focus
POSTED 25 Jul 2014 . BY Helen Andrews
In addition to the two recently opened properties, IHG has three other EVEN Hotels under construction in New York Credit: IHG
InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) has opened its second EVEN-branded wellness hotel in the city of Rockville, located at the centre of the federal and advanced technology marketplace of Washington DC, US. The first 129-key EVEN Hotel opened in June in Norwalk in Connecticut.

Owned and managed by IHG, the wellness-focused lifestyle brand, EVEN Hotels, launched in 2012 – designed to help travellers Eat Well, Rest Easy, Keep Active and Accomplish More.

Similar to its sister property in Norwalk, the 167-guestroom, seven-storey building in Rockville incorporates calming design elements including eco-conscious touches, such as terrariums throughout the property, wellness-certified staff and naturally fresh scents.

“We developed the brand in a very specific way to offer an ‘on-your-own wellness experience’ that is so much more than a great bed or a nice shower – though we have that too,” head of EVEN Hotels, Adam Glickman told Spa Opportunities exclusively.

“However you define wellness, EVEN Hotels has a way for you to relax on your terms and provides guests with a true holistic wellness experience. Guests can relax in calming outdoor spaces or in the privacy of their guestroom, which features LED mood and dimmable lighting, in addition to eucalyptus fibre linens for a cooler sleep,” Glickman added.

“At EVEN Hotels our bright, glass-enclosed showers feature powerful, handheld showerheads and all feature natural EO bath amenities in a variety of scents to calm or energise based on preference,” Glickman continued.

“Finally, our Cork & Kale Market offers a variety of categories of menu items to meet different guest needs, including an entire category of calming food choices that contain at least 20 per cent of your daily magnesium – which increases serotonin production – as well as a relaxing night time Bigelow Novus tea service offered each evening, Glickman concluded.

In addition to the two recently opened properties, IHG has three other EVEN Hotels under construction in New York – two in midtown Manhattan and one in Brooklyn.

IHG also confirmed that it will continue strategic development efforts in key markets including the Washington DC area, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles.
