Acoustiguide launches historic tour for children at the Tower of London
POSTED 01 May 2013 . BY Kate Corney
Acoustiguide has launched a children’s tour at the Tower of London, UK with the Historic Royal Palaces interpretation, curatorial and education teams.

The first family tour at the Tower, it is presented on Acoustiguide's Opus Click audio tour and is based on audio, with visuals such as still images and cartoons presented on the screen.

The tour is aimed at children aged between five and seven years old so combines interactive and fun elements to encourage children to explore the Tower alongside their parents but with their own map and own adventure to follow.

Parents listening to the main adult audio tour can also access the children’s tour stops so the whole family can share in the experience.

The tour is narrated by three ravens at the Tower and also includes appearances from Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Richard II, Sir Walter Raleigh and many more.

There are blood-curdling stories about prisoners, torture and executions as well as tales of escape plans, the story of the Princes in the Tower and attempts to steal the Crown Jewels.

The tone is fun and silly but the facts are accurate and the tour makes history enjoyable.

Sound effects and quizzes are included as well, for example: Quiz question: "Some say that Margaret Pole, aged 67, refused to put her head on the block to be executed so the executioner had to chase her round the scaffold. Once on the block, the ham-fisted executioner hacked her head and shoulders to pieces" TRUE or FALSE?
