The Amateur Swimming Association has issued advice entitled Get Safe for summer, listing precautions and measures needed to protect against drownings.
The ASA figures show that among the under 16's, drowning remains the third largest cause of accidental death. Amanda Church, from the ASA says constant vigilance is vital: 'When someone gets into difficulty in the water, there is very little time in which to act.' Details: www.asa.awards.co.uk
