Stafford Borough Council has said it will only be able to update the ageing facilities at Westbridge Park in Stone if a supermarket comes on board.
Speaking at a public meeting last week, council leader Mike Heenan said leisure and culture must be improved for residents of Stone. “We are keen to secure facilities for the future generations over the next 20 years. But the only way to build a large enough leisure centre would be to go in with a food operator,” he says.
