Countdown begins to opening of Australian Outback Spectacular
POSTED 16 Mar 2006 . BY
Warner Village Theme Parks (WVTP) is set to unveil its AUS$23m (£10m, US$17m, 14m euro) evening dinner show, the Australian Outback Spectacular, on 4 April.

Located between WVTP’s Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet’n’Wild Water World on Queensland’s Gold Coast, the attraction will be set in a 1,000-capacity enclosed arena and feature a two-hour show incorporating up to 40 horses, stockmen and women, Australian animals and audiovisual effects.

Guests at the show, which will be presented by Australian outback icon and bush outfitting company RM Williams, will be split into two groups and receive a stockmen’s hat depicting which of two competing stations they will be supporting as the show progresses.

A three-course Australian BBQ dinner will be served by 40 Jackeroos and Jillaroos.

The concept was first thought of more than nine years ago by WVTP chief executive officer John Menzies, who wanted to promote Australian culture to domestic and international guests.

“Audiences wanted to experience a performance that went beyond traditional folk stories,” he said.

“They craved a much more exciting and exhilarating experience that provided a unique and spectacular insight into the present day culture of Outback Australia.”

Cast from the Australian Outback Spectacular also officially opened the Australian Tourism Awards recently held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, accompanying a performance by Country Music legend Lee Kernaghan who has written and composed some of the songs to be featured in the new Australian Outback Spectacular show extravaganza.

Bookings can now be made on (07) 5573 8289 or by visiting www.outbackspectacular.com.au
