Blackbox-av has just completed a mixed hardware and software project for The Inniskillings Regimental Museum in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
The Keep of Enniskillen Castle currently houses The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Regimental Museum, which has expanded to include the history of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards in the museum, thereby telling the unique story of the two regiments raised in the town.
The new improved museum layout has been designed by specialists from The National Army Museum and meets all the requirements of a modern military museum.
Blackbox-av was commissioned to design a number of multimedia interactives and install their associated Touchscreen kiosk systems in the new museum.
The company's in-house creative team produced new multimedia interactives on World War One, The Evolution of the Tank and the important WW2 Battle of S.Hertogenbosch.
Programmers and graphic designers pored over hundreds of images of tanks, tactical maps and WW1 material, whilst a Blackbox-av film crew worked with a team of historical interpreters (aka the 'Khaki Chums') at a re-creation of a trench system in Suffolk to film hi-def material for a Battle of the Somme interactive at the museum.
A pre-view called The Trench is available on www.clockedin.co.uk. Also shown is the animated flag and video presentation used as an attractor for the museum entrance.
