Over 2.3m euros funding has been given to three tourism projects in Ireland by the Department of Sport under Fáilte Ireland’s Tourism Product Development Scheme.
The Connemara Heritage and History Centre in Lettershea, Clifden, Co. Galway will receive grant aid of up to 731,500 euros to expand existing facilities including the Dan O’Hara Homestead visitor attraction.
Waterpoint at Enniscrone in Co. Sligo has been allocated 1.45m euros to facilitate the development of the Water Leisure Centre and some related ancillary works.
Meanwhile, the Rural Cork Cycling Routes Consortium has been given 123,500 euros in order to develop around 191kms of cycling trails to enhance the tourism offering and product in Cork.
John O’Donoghue, minister for arts, sport and tourism, said: “I am sure that the projects being supported will be of great benefit to the further development of tourism in both the border, midlands and western region and the southern and eastern region.
