Bradley Stoke centre prepares for January relaunch
POSTED 19 Oct 2016 . BY Tom Walker
The new Xheight zone, designed by Hangfast, comprises 17 separate climbing walls
The £3.6m redevelopment of Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre near Bristol in Gloucestershire has entered its final phase with the opening of a new adventure climbing experience and soft play area.

The centre’s new Xheight zone, designed by Hangfast, comprises 17 separate climbing walls, designed for climbers of all abilities, while the soft play area – called Explore – is aimed at the centre’s younger visitors.

Together the two zones form the new Active Adventure experience, which is part of plans to transform the centre into “leisure destination for all”.

Funded by South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) and centre operator Circadian Trust, the investment has also included upgrades to the centre’s health club, exercise studios and café.

Work on the fitness suite has seen the expansion of the gym floor from 85 to 106 stations and the addition of a number of new studios – including a large 270sq m room and a 150 sq multi-purpose exercise studio.

Alliance Leisure Services are acting as the development partner to the council and leisure design and build specialist Createability as the appointed leisure, design and build specialist to design and carry out all construction works.

The final phase of the redevelopment will see the addition of a new Shape Master Toning suite and dedicated children’s party rooms and the refurbishment of the function suites.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of this year with the relaunch of the centre scheduled for January 2017. The centre will remain open during the works.

Councillor Heather Goddard, chair of SGC's Environment Community Services Committee, said: “The new additions will make exercise fun and enjoyable in a friendly and modern environment and we are looking forward to seeing more people using this popular South Gloucestershire leisure centre.”
