Pakistan’s Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department has completed a feasibility study for the RS4.3bn (US$41.1m, €36.4m, £28m) establishment of a National Safari Park at Salt Range Kallar Kahar in Lahore.

A project of the Pakistani government led by Punjab Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries secretary Jehanzeb Khan, the safari park will be established over 1.5sq m (4sq km), with the main objective to promote eco-tourism in the country.

Several different safaris will be established within the park, where local animal species such as Uriyal and Chinkara Deer will be observed as will more exotic animals including Arabian Orex, giraffes, and zebras.

“A National Safari Park will provide entertainment opportunities for people of all ages while highlighting the necessity of the wildlife,” said the minister. “The National Safari Park will be the leading such attraction in Pakistan.”
