Iran made around $8bn (£5.2bn, €6.1bn) through tourism over the past Iranian calendar year, according to their culture, heritage, tourism and handcrafts organisation (ICHO) deputy director.
Seyed Hassan Mousavi made the remarks at the second meeting of the Developing Eight (D-8) countries on tourism.
The D-8 is a group of developing countries with large Muslim populations that have formed an economic development alliance with each other.
The ICHO deputy director noted that around four million foreign tourists visited Iran contributing $8bn to the Iranian economy over the past Iranian calendar year, which began 21 March.
