New attractions to mark completion of Disneyland Resort expansion

Cars Land is among four new attractions opening at Disney California Adventure tomorrow (15 June), which marks the completion of a five-year expansion of Disneyland Resort, US.

The addition of Cars Land - themed on the animated Disney/Pixar movie Cars - has expanded the Disney California Adventure area of the resort by 12 acres (4.9 hectares).

Guests will be taken to the town of Radiator Springs, with Cars Land including three immersive family attractions showcasing the settings and characters of the blockbuster.

Radiator Springs Racers is one of the largest attractions created for a Disney park and incorporates a twisting, high-speed adventure travelling through Ornament Valley and Radiator Springs.

Meanwhile, Luigi's Flying Tires and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree - where guest ride baby tractors in rhythm to music - are the other two attractions to form part of Cars Land.

Other additions are Buena Vista Street - inspired by 1920s Los Angeles - and the Carthay Circle Theatre, based on the site of the premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

"From the thrills of Cars Land to the romance of Buena Vista Street, the work that's been done throughout this entire expansion is extraordinary," said Tom Staggs, chair of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

"Disney California Adventure is a testament to what we at Disney Parks do best - connecting our guests to the iconic stories, characters and music they love, helping them make shared memories to last a lifetime."
