Scottish culture secretary Fiona Hyslop has announced that a number of historic buildings throughout the country are set to receive a share of £1m towards repair work.

The funding - made available through Historic Scotland's Building Repair Grants scheme - will benefit sites such as Drum Castle in Aberdeenshire (£465,70).

Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum (£264,000), Craigston Castle estate (£243,371) and Dunoon Burgh Halls (£161,241) are among the other recipients of six-figure grants.

Meanwhile, Ullapool Museum (£14,000) and the Haining Estate (£37,500) will also receive funding towards repair work under the latest round of grants.

Hyslop said: "Times are tough but each of these projects exemplify why we need to invest in buildings at the heart of our communities so they can continue to be a resource for us all."
