US$1.9bn golf resort for Mississippi
POSTED 29 Jun 2006 . BY Helen Patenall
Myriad-Tunica has announced plans to develop a US$1.9bn (£1bn, 1.5bn euro) golf complex called Myriad Resort in Tunica, Mississippi, US.

The 540 acre (218 hectare) botanical-themed resort will combine a 1,200-bedroom, four-star hotel – called Myriad Palace – with the world’s first climate-controlled, fully enclosed 18-hole golf course, which will cover 7,200 yards.

Resort facilities will include an Otium spa, a 2,500-seat arena, an 80,000sq ft (7,400sq m) casino as well as a 375,000sq ft (35,000sq m) convention centre and a 250,000sq ft (23,000sq m) retail village.

Attractions at the resort will comprise an Xqua Extreme waterpark, a snow globe and snowpark and a Mississippi Eye observation and ride wheel.

In addition, the project may include an ice feature with trails and skating rinks and a water feature with aquariums and lagoons.

Work on site will start in the autumn, with completion of phase one expected to take 18 months.

Mississippi-based Myriad-Tunica is owned by Delaware-based Myriad Entertainment & Resorts. Details: www.myriadgolf.com
