The former home of British naturalist Charles Darwin has been chosen as the UK’s nomination for becoming a World Heritage Site in 2006.
Darwin at Downe, located in the London Borough of Bromley, includes Darwin’s house, experimental garden and the land immediately around his property which Darwin used for scientific investigations for 40 years.
Sir Neil Cossons, chair of English Heritage, said: “The site will become better known and appreciated nationally and internationally as a result of this nomination.” Details: www.darwinatdowne.co.uk
