Work has got underway on the £700,000 redevelopment of the Oceanarium in Bournemouth.
The attraction will close during the redevelopment, which will add a rainforest-themed entrance area with tropical displays, a new café and shop, and Turtle Beach - a realistically themed beach area for a pair of rescued green turtles.
It is hoped the new habitat will encourage the turtles to breed. Visitors will be able to learn about the species at a new interactive discovery area which will sit alongside the beach. The Oceanarium is scheduled to reopen at the end of December.
