The London Tourism Action Group (LTAG) is channeling £500,000 of Government funding into encouraging Britons to visit the Capital.
The LTAG originally planned to invest the money in promoting London oversees, but changed it plans due to the drop in tourist trade following the foot and mouth crisis, and the events of 11 September in the US.
The LTAG, is made up of public sector organisations and private sector associations including BAA, the London Development Agency, the English Tourism Council and the Greater London Authority. It plans to attract tourists back to London by capitalising on the one million Britons who have now opted to holiday in the UK, rather than travelling abroad.
London has always had the capacity to excite, entertain, surprise and inspire, said Tourism Minister, Kim Howells. I urge people to experience its diversity and history. Few cities anywhere in the world compare with it.
