Nijigen no Mori to add Dragon Quest-themed park to its offering
POSTED 29 Dec 2020 . BY Tom Walker

Nijigen no Mori theme park in Japan has revealed plans to add an entire new area based on the popular Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) Dragon Quest.

The new "park within a park" will offer guests an immersive experience, with each guest able to form their own journey through a storyline which is based on collecting armour and weapons – much like the original Dragon Quest game.

The new area is set to open in early 2021.

"Dragon Quest is an outdoor field role playing game attraction where you can explore the world of Dragon Quest," the park said.

"It will be a fusion of real and digital and will allow each guest to be the main character of their own story. The adventure will include original characters and monsters."

Nijigen no Mori is located on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture and the new area will add to the park's existing four main attractions — each of which require different admission tickets.

Covering 135 hectares, the park is famous for its rides and attractions based on Japanese anime and cartoon characters, including Crayon Shin-chan, Naruto and Boruto.

Earlier this year, the park added an area based on Godzilla, which includes a museum featuring props and costumes from the plethora of films made about the fictional monster – also known as a "kaiju" in Japanese.
