Rainforest waterpark heralds first phase of Amaazia development in Surat, India
POSTED 10 Jan 2017 . BY Alice Davis
Polin Waterparks debuted a dozen waterslides at the new Amaazia waterpark in Surat, India
A brand new waterpark has opened in Surat, India, the first phase of the multi-million-dollar Amaazia development by Rajgreen Group.

The 4.5-acre (1.8-hectare) site has been supplied by Polin and boasts a variety of extreme and family waterslides, combination slides, a children's water play structure and a wave pool.

Polin’s signature King Cobra waterslide is at the centre of the brightly coloured waterpark, which is themed like a rainforest and filled with a wide variety of animals, including lions, elephants, koala bears, polar bears and water buffalo.

The €25m (US$26.5m, £21.8m) Amaazia Amusement Park is set to eventually cover 16 acres (6.5 hectares) and offer a large family entertainment centre, indoor amusement park, bird park, snow park, shopping mall and cinema as well as hospitality, conference and events facilities.

The development, which aims to increase tourism to Gujarat state, is being built by real estate developer Rajgreen Group and created by themed entertainment designers Sanderson Group.

In March 2016, Wet N Joy waterpark opened its doors near Pune in Maharashtra state.

That came on the heels of India’s first international standard waterpark, Adlabs Aquamagica, which also launched in Maharashtra state.

Meanwhile, India’s largest theme park operator, Wonderla Holidays, is set to incorporate a waterpark element into its fourth park, set to open in Chennai in Q4 2018.
