Entertainment simulation company Smiling Lion supplied a custom designed simulator for Volvo at the recent International Boat Show in London.
Built by US company Doron, the SRV™ simulator not only featured the usual dynamic motion but also 5.1 stereo surround sound, a giant 66in x 33in plasma screen and a specially designed 40kmh wind effect and water spray system.
In addition, Smiling Lion created a custom designed programme for the event, containing live film footage shot from different legs of the Volvo World Ocean Race and entitled Life at the Extreme.
It enabled passengers to experience a realistic sensation of what it's like to be on the open deck of an ocean-going racing yacht in some of the worlds most challenging seas.
Volvo has purchased two of the SRV systems to travel to various locations across the world as a special feature at each of their race villages.
