Blackbox-av has been commissioned to install a wide range of equipment at the Severn Valley Railway's (SVR) new Engine House Visitor Centre.
The railway runs regular steam-hauled passenger trains over a 16 mile line between Kidderminster, Worcs., and Bridgnorth, Salop. The journey closely follows the course of the River Severn and is largely run by unpaid volunteers.
The Engine House Visitor Centre - which houses an impressive collection of fully restored rolling stock, venerable steam locomotives, exhibitions, educational facilities and archives - opened on 21 March, the occasion having been postponed from last year following torrential summer storms.
Blackbox-av was commissioned by exhibition designers, Imagemakers, to install a wide range of standard AV equipment to support the new displays, exhibits and educational facilities.
The company also installed bespoke systems to provide simulated steam, glowing coal boiler fires and engine sound effects for the display of steam engines.
'Clocked In', its creative team, also produced a number of documentaries for visitors. The team spent a week on site, filming interviews with the volunteers and shots of the locomotives in operation.
The three finished documentary films deal with the history of the SVR, restoration of its steam engines and the daily life of the SVR volunteers.
A showreel of some of the filming can be accessed on the company’s website at www.clockedin.co.uk

Small Footprint, Big Significance: Studio City Water Park |
|
Long known for its fancy casinos, Macau realized within the past decade that it must
diversify its tourism scene to attract new crowds. With the ambition of becoming the
leisure hub of China’s 72-million strong Greater Bay Area, the city began adding shows,
attractions, and family-friendly hotels. But the offering that truly stands out with fun
for everyone is Studio City Water Park – Macau’s first stand-alone water park, with all
the water slides and aquatic play structures supplied by WhiteWater. |

How surf simulators are transforming the experience economy |
|
The experience economy, driven by evolving consumer trends, is poised for continued growth
in the coming years. Millennials have been at the forefront of this shift, favouring
memorable experiences over material possessions. This preference has extended to other
generations as well, indicating a broader adoption of experience-focused spending habits
in the attractions sector. |
