Rosewood’s Caribbean island retreat on St. Barth has undergone an extensive four-year overhaul and rebranded its wellness facility into a Rosewood Sense spa.

As part of the overhaul, the 600sq m wellness centre at Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth has had a comprehensive design refresh directed by architectural firm David M Schwartz Architects and interior designer Luis Pons Design Lab.

The goal was to create an environment that captures the island’s heritage and natural surroundings.

At the forefront of the refreshed wellness offering is a new treatment menu including Lost Remedies rituals exclusive to the destination and inspired by the Caribbean’s oldest settlers.

In keeping with the brand’s A Sense of Place philosophy, wherein the identity and offerings of each Rosewood are inspired by its location, the new menu seeks to leverage St. Barth’s natural resources.

Highlights include the Return to Balance experience; a rebalancing body treatment featuring hot and cold compresses and a refreshing salt foot soak infused with corossol leaves, widely used in the islands for their cooling properties.

Guest’s feet are then exfoliated with a sugar cane scrub and massaged with Indian wood balm oil. The treatment continues with a cooling wrap and is completed with a hot compress of ginger, lemongrass and mint.

Using a holistic approach, this 150-minute ritual (€340, US$386, £285) is designed to release blocked energy, relax muscles and improve overall health and skin wellness.

Equally rooted in the ancestral techniques of the island, The Ouanalao Ritual invites guests to achieve deep relaxation.

The 90-minute treatment (€260, US$295, £218) begins with a warm foot bath and exfoliation using lemon verbena, tamarind pulp and willow bark – which contains salicylic powder claimed to remove dead skin cells.

Therapists then conduct a soothing facial cleanse and massage using coconut oil and local soursop fruit to relieve tension and congestion.

Newly-appointed spa manager Fanny Martin told Spa Business the reimagined facility has “gained a new ambience, spirit and approach to wellness”.

“Wellness has always been a strong focus of the resort,” she added, “it was a natural evolution for the wellness facility to become a Sense Spa and embrace Rosewood’s wellness philosophy.”

Martin and her team have worked with the spa’s brand partners – including Haeckels and Evidens de Beaute – to create a selection of products reflecting the spa's new wellness ethos. The spa is also partnered with Puru and Soleil Toujour for treatments.

The Sense spa features four treatment rooms, two couples’ suites, an adults-only pool, hammam, beauty salon and retail boutique.

The overhaul has seen the spa gain a new gym equipped by Panatta, plus a tennis facility.
