Dubai Parks and Resorts planning fifth theme park

Dubai Parks and Resorts’ three major zones are now open, and the fourth Six Flags-branded park is under construction, but it seems operator DXB Entertainments is not about to rest on its laurels, with plans for a fifth park currently in the works.

In an interview with the Emirati company’s CEO, Raed Kajoor Al Nuaimi, Gulf Business reported that ideas for a further park had been tabled.

“We have plans to add a fifth park. We are still working on it – it’s an amazing idea but it’s at the conceptual stage at the moment and once it’s the right time we will go out and expand it,” Al Nuaimi told the publication.

Though he wouldn’t reveal any other details, he went on to promote locally-created IPs, mentioning “Luna and Nova” – Dubai Parks and Resorts mascots – as examples. It raises the possibility that a fifth theme park could be based on an original or local story rather than an imported IP.

At the end of this year, Dubai welcomed the opening of its Motiongate, Legoland and Bollywood parks, which make up the core of DXB Entertainments current operations. Six Flags Dubai will open in 2019.
