About the Organisation and Benefits
English Heritage cares for over 400 historic monuments, buildings and sites. Through these, we bring the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year.

No matter what you do or where you do it, by joining us you’ll be playing a vital role in looking after some of the greatest places in England so that they can be enjoyed today and for generations to come. You’ll find it’s a workplace like no other – taking you behind the scenes of these extraordinary sites and supporting you to share your ideas, inspire others and make a difference.

About the role
The Head of On-Site Visitor Experience is an exciting role within the Historic Properties Department of English Heritage. Working across departments, you will champion exemplary visitor experience at our properties, driving the consistent and continual improvement of our offer and service. You’ll be responsible for developing and updating English Heritage’s Visitor Experience Strategy in a way that builds on the success of the current strategy whilst also taking it to the next level. You can be based in one of our regional office locations (York, Bristol, Swindon, London), or be a homeworker.

About the person
We are looking for a strategical leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, who can influence colleagues from all departments and levels of the organisation to put the visitor at the heart of all that we do. Driven by a passion for providing visitors with a truly exemplary experience across all English Heritage properties, you will be creative and innovative and will instinctively understand how and why to add value to the great work of our site based teams. Utilising your analytical skills you will use visitor insight to inform new developments in our visitor offer onsite. You will understand our brand values and ensure these are embedded into the on-site experience. In doing so, you will enable English Heritage to deliver exceptional visitor experiences that leave our visitors feeling enthusiastic and motivated by their experience and feeling positive about English Heritage as a Charity.
