Langham Hospitality Group will manage its third luxury hotel in Gold Coast, Australia, housed within a new Chad Oppenheim-designed crystalline jewel tower.

Opening Q4 2021, The Langham, Gold Coast will feature 169 rooms and suites, 170 serviced residences and a signature Langham Chuan spa.

The 500sq m spa will offer treatments inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophies in a tranquil, meditative setting.

The facility will be complete with seven treatment rooms as well as a health and beauty centre, fitness centre and an indoor free form and outdoor swimming pool.

With their prime beachfront location in Surfers Paradise, the hotel and serviced apartments will be inside the central and tallest of the three landmark towers of the new Jewel mixed-use development.

The Langham, Gold Coast will be located between the third and 20th floors while residences will be on the 22nd to 49th floors, offering stunning city and ocean views.

The grand structure and shimmering exterior of the Jewel are reminiscent of three imposing smoky quartz crystals, visible for miles from the Nerang River to the Gold Coast hinterland.

The towers’ crystalline forms are inspired by the gemstone shards discovered in the region which dates back thousands of years.

“It was crucial for us to understand and uncover the spirit of place – the site’s histories and ecologies, so the architectural ‘object’ resonated with the land and its people,” stated Oppenheim, founding principal of Oppenheim Architecture.

Developed by AW Holding Group, the appointed architects for The Langham, Gold Coast and the Jewel are DBI Design and US-based Oppenheim Architecture + Design respectively.

Sydney-based Studio Aria has overseen interior design and drawn inspiration from the prime coastal location and nearby national parks.

The hotel’s interior colour palette will reflect the “coast meets city” theme, with a soothing blend of teal, azure and tan shades derived from the local flora and fauna.

Salt and sun-bleached timbers, metal and glass materials will give a natural yet contemporary finish that complements the building's modern architecture.

The Langham, Gold Coast will also feature a ballroom, meeting facilities and a host of restaurants, including a café, lobby lounge, pool bar and a podium sky terrace with a bar overlooking the ocean.

“Combining the cosmopolitan vibrancy and relaxed lifestyle for which the Gold Coast is renowned will position The Langham as the quintessential luxury urban resort,” said Stefan Leser, Langham CEO.
