An online training resource which aids coaches, teachers and umpires has been launched by England Hockey in collaboration with Great Britain Hockey.

The Hockey Hub provides resources for coaches, whether they work with beginners or talented young players that could progress to elite level. It is free to use, will be updated every fortnight, and will also allow users to engage with senior coaches and players.

Four key areas make up the hub: End in Mind, which includes a “library of skill and game-based footage”; Golden Thread, which consists of five key principles that “should be at the core of coaching”; You’re the Coach, a facility designed to engage coaches to share ideas about “effective session design; and Talent Development, in which senior internationals share their thoughts on the importance of talent development.

Danny Kerry, head coach of the England and Great Britain women’s hockey teams, said the tool was an “informative resource for coaches working throughout sport”.

“Continuing to seek ways of improving the quality of deliver across the sport is fundamental to the enjoyment and development of players,” he added.

“My hope is that the resource will prove helpful to coaches in how they think about, develop and be creative in their coaching.”
