Ambitious plans for the redevelopment of the Headingley Stadium complex in Leeds will be revealed in February during a host of exhibitions.

The facility is the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, the Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie and represents one of the “biggest visitor attractions” in the city.

As part of the proposed redevelopment, the capacity of the cricket ground will be expanded beyond its 17,500 seats, new practice and training facilities will be built alongside corporate facilities, media facilities, better quality seating and “attractive spaces” around the ground to “improve integration” with the surrounding area.

For the rugby stadium, the North and South Stand will be replaced with improved facilities for players and fans. Capacity will be increased, and for the first time ever, the South Stand will include some seats.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rhinos will fund the improvement work along with some designated public money – the total costs of the project has not yet been revealed. Any shortfall will be made up by the Rhinos through the sale of two of its sites for housing developments, located off Weetwood Avenue, Weetwood and Old Thorpe Lane, Tingley. 100 per cent of the funds from the sale will go into the redevelopment.

The two clubs are now embarking on a consultation process which will inform the final planning application. Exhibitions will take place between 8 and 15 February, with a feedback period open until 16 February 2016.

The Exhibitions are taking place as follows:
Monday 8th February, 2016 from 4pm – 7pm
Weetwood Hall – The Bramley Room, Weetwood Hall, Otley Road, Leeds, LS16 5PS
Tuesday 9th February, 2016 from 4pm – 7pm
Woodkirk Valley Country Club, Leeds Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, WF12 7JL
Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th February, 2016 from 4pm – 7pm
Headingley Stadium, Carnegie Café Bar, St Michael’s Lane, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS6 3BR
