Qantas looks to refresh wellness offerings at first class lounges in Sydney, Melbourne

Australian airline operator Qantas is seeking to refresh its spa offerings at both of its Sydney and Melbourne first class lounges with a range of new treatments based on Aurora Spa Rituals products.

The spas at the airline’s first class lounges are now operated by Aurora Spa, with the new approaches at Sydney and Melbourne seeking to cut previous treatment times to fit in more customers before they fly.

Treatments now last 20 minutes instead of the previous 30 to 50 minutes, with the range covering everything from massages, facials for both men and women, foot therapies and signature treatments.

When passengers arrange a flight out of the airline’s first class lounge from either Sydney or Melbourne, they receive a phone call the day before their journey, which offers them a choice of treatments and proposed session times.

The treatments incorporate Aurora Spa Rituals products like handwashes, hand creams, body cleansers, shampoos and conditioners, which can already be found in the bathrooms of the Qantas Sydney and Melbourne International Business Lounges, as well as its Hong Kong and Singapore Lounges.

Qantas is hoping to introduce the products into all of its domestic and international business lounges over the next 12 months.

There has been a growing trend to provide spa offerings in airports, as operators look to make use of the time passengers spend in departure lounges waiting for their flights.

Wellness is becoming a growing part of some travel experiences, with the recent overhaul of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport seeing the introduction of an XpresSpa tailored towards the traveller, which offers an extensive treatment menu, a special travel skincare line and signature massage loungers.
