Pasadena's Chuan Spa at the Langham Huntington coming to California in June

The eighth Langham Hotel – Langham Huntington, Pasadena – will unveil its new Chuan Spa spa in June offering what it calls unique skin care services.

Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group developed the Chuan Spa brand, focusing on traditional Chinese medicine.

The 11,000sq ft (1,021sq m) centre claims it will provide methods of skin care which cannot be found elsewhere in the US: that have been adapted especially for Chuan Spa.

In an attempt to reduce the side effects of costly laser treatments such as Fraxyl and Thermage, the Chuan Spa will use Intelligent Phototherapy – an anti-ageing technology product by Mistral Light and Heat Energy – which mixes a blend of light and heat to clear acne, scarring and to comfortably remove hair from very sensitive skin.

ZIRH’s men’s treatments and products will be on offer, in addition to a unique facial created for Chuan Spa.

Other cosmetics companies have partnered with Chuan Spa to create treatments unique to the wellness brand, including clients such as Deborah Lippmann and HydraFacial.

"Throughout 2014, the Mistral skin care experience will only be available in California at Chuan Spa," Barry White, group director of spa for Langham Hospitality Group, told Spa Opportunities.

"Several exclusive skin care treatments – created in partnership with Kerstin Florian, Priori and Zirh – will also highlight the menu of Chuan Spa at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, all addressing the sophisticated beauty requirements of spa aficionados in Los Angeles," he said.

12 treatment rooms will include two couple’s suites - one of which is a private VIP Suite consisting of two massage tables and an adjoining relaxation zone, while the suite’s wet zone offers an experience shower for two and a steam shower.

Guests of the Pasadena hotel will also have access to a contemplation lounge, dream room, sauna, aromatic steam room, spa pool plus massage and beauty treatments.

Additionally, space for meditation classes, running and cycling clubs will also feature in the new wellness centre.
