A new mining-themed visitor attraction is to be built in the South African town of Rustenburg.
According to a local magazine, mining Weekly, the park, to be called Platinum City, will be modelled on a theme park and will highlight the past, present and future of South African mining.
The developers, Rustenburg Local Municipality and Archway Projects, are looking to establish the new park as a tourist destination alongside similar minig-related attractions such as Gold Reef City in Johannesburg and the Big Hole in Kimberley.
The theme park is set to boast a stand-alone mining hall tracing mining through the ages and depicting the impact that it had on the social history of the country.
