National Lottery Awards shortlist revealed

The National Lottery Good Causes has revealed a list of 49 projects that will
compete in this year's National Lottery Awards.
Over 900 lottery-funded programmes had entered this year's awards with a panel of judges coming up
with a short-list of 49 split over seven categories reflecting the different areas that receive National Lottery
Funding: arts, sport, heritage, health, environment, education and voluntary/charity.

US attraction industry growing at twice the rate of the economy

New research conducted by Tourism Economics shows that the attraction industry
in the US has grown nearly twice the rate of the rest of the economy between
2004-2011. In 2011 alone the US attractions industry generated a total economic
impact of almost
US$219bn (£146bn, €170bn) - a huge increase compared to 2004 when it had an
impact of
US$146m (98bn, €114bn) over the year.

Shortlist for family friendly museum award announced

Friendly Museum Award. Picked from 20 possible candidates, the shortlist was selected by a panel of

China to get first outdoor Angry Birds theme park

Chinese officials at Yanguan Town in China have announced plans for a 20m yuan
(£2.18m, $US3.25m, €2.54m) Angry Birds theme park to be built in the Zhejiang
Province.
The park will be the country's first official outdoor Angry Birds attraction and will be located on a 1.5km
(0.93m) stretch of the Qiantang River in Yanguan, Haining.

Iconic Coney Island Astrotower dismantled over safety fears

Part of the iconic Astrotower on Coney Island has had to be demolished after
concerns about the tower’s stability was raised when it started swaying heavily
in the wind. The 50-year-old observation tower, which stood at around 270ft (82m), was deemed unstable
by the Department of Buildings and New York’s Office of Emergency Management, causing the theme park
to be evacuated on Tuesday.

Winehouse exhibition opens at Jewish Museum

street where she died. The Jewish Museum in Camden Town, London, has worked alongside the
singer’s family to gather her clothes, record and photograph collection for the exhibition.

Dubai crocodile park set to open in 2015

an entertainment group to open a crocodile theme park - the first of its kind in
