A topping-out ceremony has been held to mark the completion of external construction work on the £15.7m John Hope Gateway Visitor Centre at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in Scotland.
The Scottish Government's environment secretary Richard Lochhead officiated the ceremony for the project, which was funded by the government (£10m) and various grants bodies, including a £3.2m award from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Lochhead said: "It is wonderful to see the John Hope Gateway Visitor Centre so close to completion and our £10m investment coming to fruition.
"Once complete, this new facility will provide an inspiring classroom for all ages, offering visitors an all-weather visitor centre and provide a model of sustainability. By using state-of-the-art technologies, it will enable the public to connect with the natural world and share understanding of the environmental issues which are facing us all."
