Work is set to begin early this week on construction of The Yorkshire Wheel, a 54m high observation wheel based at the National Railway Museum.
Set to open in 7 April, The Yorkshire wheel will offer views of the city centre of York, and remain in place for up to three years.
It will offer 42 enclosed capsules accommodating up to eight people each and including one luxury VIP gondola with a leather interior.
The museum has predicted the new attraction could bring an extra one million tourists to the city from across the UK and abroad and while entry to the museum is free, trips on the wheel will be charged for.
