The contents of the Wedgwood Museum in Stoke-on-Trent may have to be auctioned off after the museum went into administration.

The Wedgwood Museum Trust went into administration in March after a £134m pension debt was transferred from the Waterford Wedgwood ceramics company. The shared pension fund is the main link between the two entities.

Supporters of the museum, which won the £100,000 Art Fund prize last year, are adamant that contents are not dispersed to the highest bidders around the world and Labour MP Tristram Hunt has taken on their cause.

According to the BBC, the Stoke MP is meeting with arts minister Ed Vaizey to discuss the possibility of a funding package to keep the collection together.
