The Mill and Engine House at Warwick Castle has opened to the public for the first time after a £2m, year-long restoration programme which takes it back to how it was in 1900.
The attraction is set in the face of the castle's south front and was used in the 14th century to grind flour, but was converted in 1894 to generate electricity for the then Earl of Warwick who lived in the castle.
As well as seeing the machinery working - the waterwheel, the dynamos the battery which stored the electricity and the switchboard from where the engineer managed the production and allocation of power - visitors will learn about the life of a mill engineer, and see a fully working eel trap.
