The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has backed the decision from G20 tourism ministers to advance visa facilitation as a means of boosting economic growth.
A joint declaration issued by the group of tourism ministers (T20) has called on countries to prioritise travel and tourism to create employment opportunities and raise national incomes.
According to research by UNWTO and the World Travel and Tourism Council, improving visa processes could generate a further US$206bn (EUR164bn, £131bn) in tourism receipts.
