UK attractions report membership 'boom'
POSTED 15 Mar 2011 . BY Pete Hayman
Attractions that offer membership schemes are set to benefit most
UK attractions have benefited from people looking to make the most of their membership, according to new research from market research agency BDRC Continental.

The latest annual BDRC Continental Holiday Survey has found that 62 per cent of members visit places more often using their entitlement, compared with the previous year.

BDRC Continental said that its findings back up research conducted by tourism agency VisitEngland in summer 2010 through the England Attractions Monitor.

In its research for Q3 2010, VisitEngland found that attractions with membership schemes were benefiting from an increase in visitors numbers.

However, there was also a warning that attractions without membership schemes could lose out, with less people willing to visit places not covered in their current fees.

BDRC Continental director Steve Mills said: "The increase in visits per member to attractions provides organisations with a much better opportunity to engage with these members and develop that elusive long term relationship.

"Those without membership schemes would appear to be at a relative disadvantage at the moment as the members become more focused upon getting value for money from their subscription fees."
