Tropical waterpark for Siberian climate as Polin oversees development of Tyumen attraction
POSTED 11 Aug 2016 . BY Tom Anstey
The waterpark will include large translucent domes overhead to allow sunlight in while keeping the -16.7ºC (1.94ºF) temperatures out
Polin will handle development of Russia’s largest indoor waterpark, with the planned all-season facility in Tyumen designed to handle a sub-zero Siberian winter.

The waterpark will include large translucent domes overhead to allow sunlight in while keeping the -16.7ºC (1.94ºF) temperatures out. Within the domes, palm trees will decorate the landscape, while a number of Polin slides will offer thrill-seekers a number of experiences within the 10,000sq m (107,000sq ft) waterpark.

Polin is working with local investment group Sibentel on the development, which will include among its 10-plus planned waterslides the Turbolance, Windigo and Magic Hole models developed by the supplier.

A separate children’s area will also be included, while several large pools – including a wave pool – will offer a more relaxed experience.

In addition to the waterpark, the facility will offer a 170-bedroom hotel, as well as a complex of baths and saunas, ranging in type with Finnish, Scandinavian and Turkish options all supplied by local mineral springs.

Russia’s growing waterpark sector led the Turkey-based Polin to open an office in the country several years ago specifically to manage the development of these facilities and serve the region. Among its developments in Russia, Polin has worked on the Megacenter Gorizont and H2O waterparks in Rostov-on-Don, as well as the Gorki Indoor Waterpark near Ryazan.

"Polin is a recognised leader for its innovative and smartly engineered aquatic attractions," said Selim Doguoglu, head of Polin’s Russian office. "We've already built some of the most successful waterpark facilities in the country and we expect this one in Tyumen will quickly match those.”

The complex in Tyumen is expected to attract a million visitors a year. It is scheduled to open in April 2017.
