Leading tourism organisations have joined forces to implement a long-term recovery plan for London's tourism in light of the recent terrorism attacks in the USA.
The London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau (LTB) is to spearhead the new partnership which will research the effects of the terrorism attacks on London's tourism and the wider economy before implementing a long-term recovery plan.
The London Tourism Recovery Group includes the Association of London Government (ALG), the Central London Regeneration Agency, Cross River Partnership (CRP) and Cultural Partners for London.
Business consultants PKF, will conduct the research into the various sectors of London Tourism including attractions, accommodation, arts and entertainment, transport providers, retailers, restaurants, conference and meeting organisers and tour operators.
Teresa Wickham, chairman of LTB, said she was extremely concerned about the impact of terrorism: There is no precedent for these events so the first step for the new partnership is to understand how the tourism industry is faring right, in order to plan an effective strategy for recovery.
The first round of research takes place this week with two more planned in November and January 2002.
