A 120m high observation wheel is set to open in Melbourne, Australia, in 2008 as part of the AUS$1.3bn (£516m, US$966m, 767m euro) Waterfront City project.
The wheel will be similar in design to the London Eye, except that instead of resembling a bicycle wheel with spokes, the Southern Star Observation Wheel will incorporate a star structure.
It will feature 21 air-conditioned glass capasules which can accommodate 20 people and each will offer 20 seats as well as space to walk around.
The ride will take around 25-30 minutes and although prices have yet to be set, it is expected to be comparable to other major attractions in the city, such as Melbourne Aquarium.
The wheel has been designed and will be manufactured by Japanese amusement park ride company Sunoyas Hishino Meisho Corporation.
