Unesco will hold a training workshop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to address implementation of cultural and natural heritage protection across South America and some parts of Africa.

Taking place from 3-7 October, the Lucio Costa Centre (LCC), in cooperation with the Latin American and Caribbean unit of the World Heritage Centre, will hold a series of workshops designed to better support LCC’s Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for World Heritage in South America.

Organised into seven thematic classes, participants will disseminate key concepts and methodologies related to the timely implementation of the World Heritage Convention, while also identifying main themes to be developed by the CBP.

During the sessions, there will also be an analysis of case studies in the region as detonators for discussion and exchange on the various national contexts on each topic.

The workshop is open to invited state parties from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, as well as the African nations of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique.
