Shrek and co coming to Manila's City of Dreams
POSTED 23 May 2014 . BY Tom Anstey
The announcement will mark Dreamworks' first foray into the Philippines attractions market Credit: Melco Crown Resorts
Melco Crown Resorts has announced a new collaboration with Dreamworks Animation, which will see the pair team up to deliver a Dreamworks-inspired “Edutainment Centre” at Manila’s City of Dreams in the Philippines.

The experience will be bespoke for City of Dreams Manila and created by the artistic and creative forces of DreamWorks Animation and iP2 Entertainment. The education-based, interactive entertainment concept called “DreamPlay by DreamWorks,” will combine elements of the DreamWorks library with the hands-on activities of an education inspired play-centre to create a tailor-made family experience.

New digital technologies will enable kids to engage in a wide range of activities while interacting with Dreamworks franchises such as Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon.

"DreamPlay provides a distinctive opportunity for visitors in a fun and educational setting,” said Paul Kurzawa, head of global retail, development and entertainment for Dreamworks Animation. "Harnessing leading digital technologies, this attraction is going to be unlike anything that currently exists and will undoubtedly become a new type of destination for families, both in the Philippines and across the rapidly growing leisure-destination markets of Asia."

City of Dreams Manila is set to fully open later this year and will offer a variety of entertainment, hotel, retail, dining and lifestyle experiences, including a large casino complex.
