The Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa has launched a new behind-the-scenes experience to take guests into the core of life in the African bush.

Called Madolo’s Retreat, guests will gain hands on experience of the day to day challenges of the park’s rangers – such as animal tracking and monitoring and working in the field with the conservation department – while increasing their wildlife knowledge.

Situated on the Eastern Cape, Shamwari is marketed as South Africa’s first, private, malaria-free game reserve and includes the Born Free Foundation’s Animal Rescue Centre. It is part of the Mantis Collection of hotels. Details: www.ecoafricaexperience.com
