Plans for a new theme park depicting life in ancient Rome have been announced by the Italian capital city's deputy mayor, Mauro Cutrufo.
The new attraction will be themed to give visitors the chance to view the city's ancient landmarks, including the Colosseum, as they were during the time of the Roman Empire.
Cutrufo's plan will see the theme park built on a 400-500 hectare (988-1,236 acre) site on the outskirts of Rome at a cost of between 700-800m euros (£555-634m). It is hoped that the new attraction, which Cutrufo says it will be based on EuroDisney in Paris, will attract three million visitors every year.
The results of a global survey designed to assess the demand of the new theme park will be published in September.
