The National Lottery Award has been launched for its fourth year to celebrate the benefits made to local communities by projects supported by lottery funding.
The general public can vote until 3 August on their preferred project from seventy contenders nationwide, which are competing to win a £2,000 cash prize and the chance to feature on prime time television.
This year’s programme will comprise seven categories: Best Arts Project; Best Education Project; Best Environment Project; Best Health Project; Best Heritage Project; Best Sports Project and the Sunday Mirror Award for Best Charity/Voluntary Project.
The heritage category includes The Pallant House Gallery in London and The National Waterfront Museum in Swansea, while the sports category features Curl Aberdeen and Ice Sheffield.
The three projects with the highest number of votes from each category will go through to the finals, with each category winner being announced on a special Saturday night show on BBC 1 on 15 September.
